Platinum A Novel Aliya S King Books

Platinum A Novel Aliya S King Books
"Platinum" by Aliya S King was one of the 3 best books I've read so far this year! Outstanding! The characters were so real and you can clearly see they are loosly based on well known A and D list industry people and their various controversies. I found myself thinking of Beyone, Jay Z, Karrine Stephans, DMX, Aaliyah, Rihanna, Chris Brown and many more as I read this book.In this book we meet an assorted cast of individuals with one common bond: Cleo Wright. Cleo is an infamous former video vixen who is writing a book on all the men she' slept with, with the help of ghostwriter Alex. The list includes rappers Z and Jake, Ras Bennett super producer, up and coming rapper Birdie (Alex's fiancee) and many other married and "taken" athletes and celebs. Alex is simutaneously penning an article for "Vibe" about the wives/girlfriends of rappers. Beth (Z's long suffering White wife), Kipenzi Hill (superstar diva and secret girlfriend of Jake), Josephine Bennett (fashion designer & wife of Ras Bennett) are all being interviewed for the article.
We also meet Zander ( Z and Beth' s son) who is an up and coming rapper who is in a shaky somewhat violent and obssessive relationship with Bunny a young singer from the islands. Bunny's temper is fierce and young Zander is the recipient of her rage.
Questions are asked and drama heats up as word spreads that Cleo is penning a book on her adventures with some of the top men in the industry.
This book was a pageturner and I look forward to reading more from this author!!

Platinum A Novel Aliya S King Books Reviews
I liked this book. Cant wait to read her other works.
The characters in the book are interesting alone. Their lives the changes they go through it is a remarkable book and the ending was not what you would consider looking for it was a shocker.
Aliya S. King did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life. I wondered who was who in real life and that kept me engrossed to get to the end of story. I started at midnight and passed out with the book in my hand. I finished it this morning. I literally couldn't put the book down. There are several main characters, but Ms. King did a good job introducing each one and interwining their stories so their was never a dull moment. I definitely recommend this book as an entertaining read. Gossip blog junkies will love it!
I read the book, Platinum yesterday, and I must say that I found it amazing! I read the complete book in one sitting, as I was so engaged. Everyone knows that what usually sells is a combination of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Substitute Rock and Roll with Hip Hop/Rap, and all the elements are there! We look at these people from the outside and never know what is truly going on INSIDE their lives. The Appearance of "having it all" and living a glamorous life isn't the whole story. I'm so glad this book was written. I think everyone should read it and realize that the life of celebrities, and their significant others, is not what it appears to be. The feeling of envy for me was certainly replaced with sympathy. I would never give up my normal life for anything like that. The book was well written and it made you feel for each of the characters, even the ones who seemingly didn't deserve it. Well done!
This book was ok to me 2.5 stars rating is what I'm giving. Even though this book gave you an insight of what happens behind the scenes in the music business........it just didn't do it for me. The only character I DID like ending up dying so.....yeah. Sorry this review isnt as detailed as my others but this book has me feeling blah. So I'm leaving a blah review I say borrow the book don't buy especially for the price it cost it me.
I received a kindle fire VS for Christmas and couldn't wait to buy some books. I purchased 50 Shades of Grey, because I heard about it being a NY Times bestseller, and Platinum because I had read Aliyah King 's articles in various magazines and I was curious to see how her book would be.
I started 50 Shades of Grey first, but could only get through 4 chapters. I started Platinum and didn't put it down for 2 days. I enjoyed the characters and was fully engrossed in the story of each of their lives and how it played out as a whole.
You know a book is good when you go to bed after finishing it and dream about the characters and wonder what they're going to do next! I just purchased Diamond Life so that I can find out.
While reading, I went from laughing at one character's antics to getting frustrated with the next's. King has a way of making the characters jump off the page and into the room in which you're reading. The writing is so visual, that I found myself wishing this was a movie. For those hip-hop heads (or celebrity followers in general, really), there are noticeable likenesses to current stars. Most notable are the similarities of the dynamic of the Kipenzi/Jake relationship, which calls of mind one of my favorite celebrity pairings. With a twist at the end that left me with tears in my eyes (I wasn't ready Aliya!!!), Platinum gives you a bird's eye view into the lives of the people we see on TMZ.
